A new edition of the book "Creation and
improvement of solid-fuel piston internal combustion engines"
has been prepared. Despite the fact that the course on decarbonization of
mobile energy has almost completely removed from the agenda the problem of
using solid fossil fuels in internal combustion engines, many years of efforts
to solve this problem have significantly affected modern engine construction. For
more than a hundred years, scientists and engineers in different corners of the
globe have been working on this task. In the course of these studies, a number
of solutions were developed and tested, which today are widely used in modern
engines, especially designed for work on alternative fuels, such as methanol,
ammonia and hydrogen. We hope that readers will be interested in broadening
their horizons by learning in more detail how the idea that appeared together
with internal combustion engines has evolved along with them for quite a long
time.
